The Adventure of Rocks series is informed by my life as a mother of twin boys and my childhood memories. The project uses my son's stuffed chihuahua, Rocks, as a surrogate in situations that a child might experience. The body of work explores the mischief, poignant moments and everyday life of Rocks inside and outside the home. For me, the process of documenting Rocks, as if he were a live creature, symbolizes the emotional and physical world of childhood through a child's process of using role play and fantasy with inanimate objects.
