Remington Disarmed
This body of work was inspired by the Remington Arms Factory on Arctic Street, Bridgeport, CT. My first art studio was located on the third floor of the building. The abandoned machinery for making arms remained just outside my studio door. In the evenings, I would take photographs of the machinery and building while intentionally moving my camera. The photographs became the inspiration for a series of pastel pieces that used a monotonous diagonal stroke to honor the monotonous tasks of the factory workers to build up layers that disarm the arms-making machines.
